THE BLURB

His mind is a steel trap. He didn’t know it could trap him.

Robert Weston became a psychiatrist to heal people’s minds. He can’t lose his. But if the strange occurrences of forgetfulness and confusion continue, he may not be able to hide the truth much longer. When his psychological issues put his life in danger, he must face the reality that the genetic nightmare he fears inheriting has seized him.

Attorney Monty Montgomery doesn’t trust Robert Weston. His expert testimony once ruined her client’s case. She didn’t realize the psychiatrist isn’t only wrong but also completely unreliable. How can she defend him against a malpractice suit for the insurance company that hired her when he’s clearly incompetent?

Robert and Monty have bigger problems than they know. Someone has a mission. A mission that won’t be stopped until somebody ends up dead.

Is everyone a pawn in the lethal game, or is Robert’s failing mind playing tricks on him? Even with the help of the Weston siblings, Robert and Monty may need a mind smarter than theirs—the mind of God—to escape this twisted game alive.

MY REVIEW

Perhaps the most frightening form of torture is psychological. And this book may have scared this reader a little bit…  I mean, we all get a bit spacey sometimes, but when it becomes a regular occurrence, it’s a red flag.

Right out of the gate, the author gives us Robert’s passion for his patients. And turns right around and gives us his first sign that something is wrong. Professionals do not forget appointments.

The tension ramps up when we meet Monty. Taking on Robert’s case is no small conflict for her. Personally, not professionally, of course. But something tells her to proceed.

Making her as much of a target as Robert.

Ms. Agen doesn’t just get the reader’s attention, she grabs it. The tension and conflict don’t let up from the first page until the very end. Both Robert and Monty struggle with their own internal battles, and yet maintain their professional decorum.

And as the torment and threats build, Robert and Monty’s relationship may just build to something more than professional.

This story begs, pushes, the reader on, page after page, to the unexpected ending. And I promise you, this reader will be reading the first two books in the series.
