– MY I’M GONNA-DO-IT-THIS-TIME WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY
WARNING: Transparent and oh-so-vulnerable post ahead.
Once upon a time I thought I was fat.
I was wrong.
That was over twenty years ago. This is me today—and I’m not happy about it.
This is now my third attempt to get my weight under control, i.e. back down to where is it should be. I blogged about it early last year.

Wall, I sustained YET ANOTHER fracture last year, this one in the ilium bone of the pelvis. And YET AGAIN, walking to lose the weight was not possible.
Now it’s a new year—and you guessed it—YET ANOTHER fracture! In my pelvis again, making it difficult to walk. That’s seven fractures, if you’re counting.
Oh, and did I mention the muscle spasms in my back through all of this? The reason I can’t stand up for more than five minutes at a time. The reason I’ve been to pain management, and have hydrocodone (which I hate taking.)
I mean, I know I’m ‘older’ (I’m 66 FYI) but I’m not supposed to fall apart like this. LOL
So all of that is why and how I’ve gained so much weight.
Now on to my strategy to lose it.
· Manage my eating.
· Get out and WALK!
Allow me to introduce you to Blue Bird, my new Rollator walker. How I didn’t know about this thing a LONG time ago I don’t know. But it’s so different to the standard (?) walker I’ve had since my first knee surgery in 2016.
For one thing, it has four wheels and rolls easier. And there are hand brakes for safety. But the best feature is the little SEAT! When my back starts hurting, I can take a quick little ‘sit down’ and then keep going.
And yes, I’m starting slow and easy. Last thing I need to do is trigger another F… (no, not that F word, the one that has plagued my body for seven years!)
Already I’m down four pounds, and I even have more energy! Which is in limited supply due to the rheumatoid arthritis. I’m sleeping better, too.
So each week, I’ll post my weight.
And ya’ll can keep up with my progress. Here’s to seeing less of me in the weeks to come.
