rem: Tell us three random things about yourself.
DANA: I love Jesus, Christmas, and horses. I spend about 10 hrs. a day on my computer.
rem: Loving Jesus makes all the difference. What is your favorite quotation and why?
DANA: “We are the music makers, And we are the dreamers of dreams, Wandering by lone sea-breakers, And sitting by desolate streams.”
I love it because, as artists, we have particular opportunities to impact people and affect our world. Yes, it can be a lonely place, but it’s worth it.
rem: Oh, I love that. When reading, what makes or breaks a story for you? Your fiction pet peeve?
DANA: I have many, lol. But I hate names of people and places that are hard to pronounce, if it’s something that will be used often in a book. I can take having my mind trip over it once or twice, but not repeatedly. Then I make up my own name or dismiss the book entirely. Why put a reader through that?
rem: That’s a good point. What are you reading right now?
DANA: Just stopped 1/3 through The Lost Girls of Ireland by Susanne O’Leary. It’s well-written, but mostly … eh. Not much story to the story.
rem: I’m character driven, but if there’s no story then why read it? Tell us a little about your writing journey.
DANA: I write every day. Don’t know what else to say other than I’m waiting for God to tell/show me what to do next.
rem: It’s that dedication to writing that makes your stories so powerful. What genre(s) do you write and why?
DANA: All forms of Romance (including spec, romantasy, and paranormal) except historical.
rem: That’s a great word—“romantasy.” I love that you can wrap your stories around a romance. Tell us a little about your latest book? What is your current project?
DANA: I just released WASN’T EXPECTING THAT, a Christian Romance novel about a pastor who meets an unbelieving hippie’s daughter on a beach vacation, and must also deal with witches in the church. LOVE IT!
I’m working on a 2-book Romantasy about twin brother and sister (Azandra & Azan) who rule neighboring kingdoms while searching for their parents’ murderers, while discovering loves of their own.

What is YOUR favorite part about the book or why do you love this book? Why should we read it?
DANA: WASN’T EXPECTING THAT? Oh. Great question. I think what I love most is Maddox’s temptation, battling with his commitment to remain faithful to his vow to God before all else. And that he had been through so much in his past (have to read to find out what!) that makes his trial that much harder.
rem: That’s the challenge of Christian life, isn’t it—staying true to our commitment to live by faith and not by the flesh. What is one take-away from your book(s) that you hope readers identify with?
DANA: As always, I try to point out that we all fall short of God’s design and plan for us, but that He loves us more than we know and wants us to trust Him with our lives.
rem: No greater love… One more and then we’ll close. Do you have a life Scripture?
DANA: Jeremiah 29:11 in the English Standard Version (ESV) states: "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope."
rem: That’s a powerful verse to keep in mind. Anything you’d like to add?
DANA: Reviews are SO important. When you read, review!
