FRONT PORCH FELLOWSHIP – STANDING IN FAITH

There is a misconception of faith, and not just among unbelievers—some think that faith is an instant fix. That prayer is akin to rubbing a genie lamp and getting your wish granted.

Sure, sometimes, Father God answers instantly. And sometimes He answers unbelievers.

But He is not a genie in a lamp. He is a Person. A Person who desires nothing more than a relationship with us.

Faith is not a one-time, magic potion, quick-fix. There’s a reason it’s called standing in faith.” Because, “…with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.”

Our enemy certainly doesn’t give up after one try. He buffets us, he badgers us, taunts and teases and tempts us. And if we aren’t armed against him, we’ll give in.

Faith is not just a “component” of the Christian life; it is a weapon of warfare.

Note that even girded in the full armor of God, we are admonished to STAND.

I don’t believe this means necessarily to be on our feet, nor, necessarily on our knees, although both of those postures are perfectly fine.

No, I believe, that in every moment we are to be at the ready. Nay, we are to be fully girded, to withstand surprise and sneak attacks. That whatever we are doing, wherever we are, we are to be fighting the good fight of faith. Standing. Praying. Aware of Holy Spirit’s presence in our lives. And aware that that sneaky worm of an enemy is doing everything in his power, such that it is, to get to us and take us down. To take us out.

We all live with circumstances and situations that would shatter our faith—if we allow it to. But Holy Spirit is invincible, and in Him, so, too, are we.

Does this mean we’ll never get wounded? No, of course not. But as we keep our eyes on Him, He is faithful to see us through it all.

Abide in Him. Rest in Him. And STAND in faith, bearing your shield against every fiery dart the enemy throws your way.
